From 1980 to 2025, 190 Atlantic tropical cyclones experienced rapid intensification (an increase in maximum sustained winds of up to 58 mph in a 24 hour period).
As hurricanes become more intense, communities are increasingly vulnerable to prolonged power outages. When the grid goes down, emergency operations, communications and critical services need reliable power to keep going. Preparing for the next storm means preparing for power disruptions before they happen.

Open Sesame for Off-Grid Power—No Fuel Supply Chain Required
When hurricanes knock out the grid, the impact can reach far beyond the loss of electricity. Fuel deliveries may be delayed, communications can be disrupted, and emergency teams may need to operate in locations where permanent infrastructure is unavailable. Having access to dependable mobile power can help communities maintain essential services throughout the response and recovery period.
Is your community prepared?
Every community has different needs. That’s why Sesame Solar works with you to develop a solution tailored to your mission, whether it's a mobile medical clinic, a WiFi and telecommunications hub, or a warming center.
Designed for emergency preparedness and disaster response, Sesame Solar Mobile Nanogrids combine solar, hydrogen and battery storage to generate and store power on site. This gives response teams a flexible off-grid power option while reducing dependence on diesel deliveries and other vulnerable fuel supply chains.

Sesame Solar Mobile Nanogrids in Action

Power When the Grid Goes Down
After Hurricane Ian devastated Southwest Florida, Comcast deployed Sesame Solar’s Mobile Nanogrids to Fort Myers, Florida, to power emergency services, communications, showers, laundry, toilets and more. These services supported 300 emergency response workers, employees and residents daily—ensuring they had the vital resources they needed while working together to repair the communications network and utility grid.
