Jackson, MI (Dec. 21, 2022) -- Sesame Solar, the company creating global climate-resilience solutions, today announced a successful year by signing and expanding existing contracts with major corporations, nonprofits and telecommunication groups, shipping record numbers of its Nanogrid Solutions, nearly tripling the size of its Jackson headquarters and doubling its full-time employee headcount. These growth metrics are accompanied by five award wins that recognize Sesame Solar and its CEO and co-founder, Lauren Flanagan, as leaders in the climate and technology industries.

In June 2022, Sesame Solar launched the world’s first 100% renewably-powered Mobile Nanogrid for Emergency Response. Fueled by solar power and green hydrogen, Sesame Solar is the first company to make green hydrogen accessible in a mobile capacity. This groundbreaking innovation allowed the company to receive coverage in leading publications such as CNBC, Bloomberg, Forbes and more. Since then, the company has been busy showcasing its Nanogrid technology with demos in cities across the U.S., such as San Francisco, Sacramento, Santa Barbara, San Diego, Champaign, Philadelphia, Washington D.C., and more.

Beyond being recognized for its innovative technology, Sesame Solar has continued to fulfill its mission to bring emergency power to communities impacted by disasters. Since the launch of its original Nanogrid Solution in 2017, thousands of people have benefitted from Sesame’s technology. More recently, following the devastating effects of Hurricane Ian, Comcast deployed Sesame Solar’s Nanogrid Solutions in Fort Myers, Florida, to power trailers of toilets, showers, laundry and more for 300+ residents and first responders daily.

“It has been almost two decades since Hurricane Katrina devastated the southeast region of the United States and since that moment, I knew we needed a reliable, renewable energy solution to get communities back on their feet after disaster strikes,” said Lauren Flanagan, CEO and co-founder of Sesame Solar. “While everyone is talking about climate tech solutions for the future, we need solutions that are going to make a difference now, and that’s where Sesame Solar’s technology comes in.”

Sesame’s innovative technology has earned the company and its CEO recognition among leading organizations such as Defense TechConnect’s National Infrastructure Challenge, where Sesame Solar was named as one of five winners for its Mobile Disaster Response Office. Since its launch, the company has also been recognized by Juniper Research for creating the Carbon Reduction Innovation of the Year, SEAL Awards honored Sesame Solar with the Sustainable Innovation Award and Business Insider named Flanagan on its Insider’s inaugural Climate Action 30 list.

Sesame Solar has exciting developments in store for 2023, such as increasing its full-time employee headcount from 26 to 75+ with an emphasis on hiring more women and veterans. In tandem, the company plans to deploy its Nanogrid Solutions in counties across the United States to help regions impacted by natural disasters recover with off-grid, reliable energy.
