Our Co-founder and CEO was invited to speak at a virtual session of the San Francisco Summit 2022 organized by Lesbians Who Tech & Allies on October 11, 2022. She spoke about “Using Renewable Energy to Respond to Weather Disasters.”

According to the United Nations, 560 catastrophic weather events are expected to happen annually by 2030, leaving hundreds of communities without power and relying on carbon-emitting diesel generators. The recent Hurricane Ian that hit landfall on September 28 became the deadliest and costliest hurricane in Florida with death toll of more than 100 and insured losses estimated at $67 billion.

Climate change is expected to worsen the frequency, intensity and impact of some types of extreme weather events. We need to learn how to break the cycle using renewable energy, such as how America’s first solar-powered town Babcock Ranch survived the wrath of Hurricane Ian relatively unscathed. Sesame Solar offers 100% renewable Nanogrids making it possible to provide clean, reliable and off-grid energy for communities hit by a natural disaster.
